Lowood is in the village of Roadwater, on the edge of Exmoor National Park. The Somerset coast is 10 minutes by car and Exmoor 15 minutes.

By Car

From the M5 motorway, take junction 23 (Bridgwater) or junction 25 (Taunton):

From Taunton (M5 J25) -- 37 mins, 19 miles via A358

1. Follow A3807 to Staplegrove Rd / A3027 (4 mins)
2. Take the A358 to Abbey Rd in Washford (29 mins)
3. Continue on Abbey Rd and follow signs to Slade Ln into Roadwater (4 mins)
4. Lowood is on Batallers Lane, Roadwater

From Bridgwater (M5 J23) -- 43 mins, 21 miles via A39

1. Take Friarn St and Wembdon Rd to Quantock Rd / A39 (5 mins)
2. Follow the A39 to Abbey Rd in Washford (33 mins)
3. Continue on Abbey Rd and follow signs to Slade Ln into Roadwater (4 mins)
4. Lowood is on Batallers Lane, Roadwater

Lowood is the first house as you enter Roadwater. The driveway is signposted "Lowood". There is plentiful free parking at the house.

By Train

The nearest mainline stations are:

• Taunton -- direct trains from London Paddington (approx. 1 hr 45 mins), Bristol, and Exeter. From Taunton, Lowood is approx. 45 mins by car/taxi.
• Bridgwater -- also on the London Paddington line. Approx. 40 mins by car/taxi.

The West Somerset Railway (heritage steam line) runs from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, stopping at Watchet and Williton -- a scenic way to arrive if you're coming from Taunton.

By Bus

The 28 Quantock Line (Buses of Somerset) runs from Taunton to Minehead and stops near Roadwater.

From Taunton station -- approx. 1 hr 35 mins:

1. Walk to Flook House bus stop in Taunton (opposite the station)
2. Take the 28 Quantock Line towards Minehead (approx. 1 hr 5 mins, 49 stops)
3. Alight at Dragons Cross
4. Walk approx. 30 mins (1.2 miles) to Lowood

By Air
